Professional Trade License

Any person desiring to engage in work at the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fuel and Gas profession in Junction City and/or Geary County shall obtain a license with the City of Junction City. 

Online Portal

The City of Junction City’s Online Portal is for conducting any business you may have with Building and Code Enforcement electronically.

Application 

To apply for a new Professional Trade license you will need to submit the following: 

  • Application
  • Certificate of Competency
  • Copy of Driver's License
  • Picture for ID Card (JPG or PNG file, this can also be taken in the office)
  • 6 hours of continuing education within the previous calendar year
  • Copy of Comprehensive General Liability Insurance
  • Copy of Workers' Compensation

Each person working in Junction City or Geary County in any of these trades will need to obtain a license prior to performing any work, this includes journeymen and apprentices. 

Renewal

If you wish to renew you license with the City of Junction City you will need to submit the following: 

  • Application
  • Copy of Driver's License (if copy on file has expired)
  • Updated picture for ID Card (JPG or PNG file, this can also be taken in the office) 
  • 12 hours of continuing education (every 2 years)
  • Copy of Comprehensive General Liability Insurance
  • Copy of Workers' Compensation

License Fees

  • $200.00 biennial fee for each Combination Mechanical Electrical and/or Plumbing Contractor with or without Fuel Gas (MEP) license
  • $75.00 biennial fee for each Master license
  • $25 biennial fee for each Journeyman license
  • $15.00 biennial fee for each Apprentice license
