Animal Control

Vanessa Gray is the Director of the Junction City-Geary County Animal Shelter. The staff consists of a Director, two full-time and two part-time Kennel Workers. It is their policy to ensure, as far as possible, that domestic animals are properly confined and cared for and that domestic animal owners voluntarily comply with the City Ordinances governing the care and treatment of their animals.  For their assistance please call 785-238-1359

Lieutenant Scott Popovich of the Logistics and Support Division is the direct supervisor of the Animal Control Officer (ACO).  The ACO is a City of Junction City employee and is dispatched through the Police Department (785-762-5912). The Animal Control Officer works Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Calls for service after those hours are referred to the Patrol Division. They will only respond to injured or vicious animal calls during the time the ACO is off.

Unclaimed animals are usually kept for approximately 3 days. Whenever feasible, it is the policy of the shelter to adopt out animals. If you would like to adopt an animal, please call or come by the Center. The workers will be glad to answer any questions you may have.

The Animal Shelter is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 1:00 - 5:30 pm, CLOSED WEDNESDAY, Saturday and Sunday 1:00 - 4:00 pm.

Please stop in and pick out a furry friend to give a loving home.
