The mission of the Junction City Police Department’s Community Involvement Unit (CIU) to provide professional service and dedication to the citizens of Junction City to improve quality of life. We realize that citizens’ needs differ and understand that to accomplish our goal we must commit ourselves to the philosophy of Community Oriented Policing and promote proactive problem solving, developing partnerships, and provide support to the community.
Formation & Staff
The CIU was formed in 2002 and included several programs already being run by the Police Department. The CIU is composed of five sworn Officers. Three of the five are certified School Resource Officers (SROs) and one is a certified D.A.R.E. Officer.
There are two SRO assigned to the Junction City High School, one SRO assigned to the Junction City Middle School and one SRO assigned to the HD Karns building. There is one D.A.R.E. Officer for the elementary schools. Also assigned to the CIU are one sergeant and one Court Liaison Officer.
Goal
The Goal of the CIU is to provide education, services, and ideas in problem solving as part of an overall Community Policing Philosophy.
