Tyler Ficken, City Clerk
Tyler began his work with the City in March 2009. He was promoted to his current position as City Clerk in November 2009. Prior to coming to Junction City, Tyler worked for Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. of Hastings, NE. Prior to that, he served the Kansas State University Department of Political Science as a graduate teaching assistant working for Governor John Carlin.
Tyler is a member of the American Society for Public Administration Kansas Chapter, he serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors for United Way of Junction City - Geary County, and is a graduate of the Crossroads of Leadership program. Tyler is making progress toward receiving his Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) certification; he has graduated from the Kansas Municipal Clerk Institute.
Tyler holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Kansas State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Wayne State College.
The City Clerk processes all Open Records Requests
, and serves as Record Custodian for the City. Tyler manages the administrative aspects of the Municipal Court. He also coordinates with City staff to create the agenda and supporting documents for the City's semimonthly Commission meetings. The City Clerk has custody of the official seal, sees to the execution of official documents, and produces the minutes
of the City Commission meetings. It is the responsibility of the City Clerk to processes Taxi Licenses. Tyler fields questions from the public; if he does not know the answer to your question he will help you find someone who does.
